In the context of the Center for eGovernance Program @ SEE, INA Academy recognised the importance of placing particular focus on the effect of electronic security in the development of eGovernment applications and services.
Under this scope, INA Academy organised the Regional Electronic Security Forum: Telecommunications Networks and Systems Security, which was held on 6 & 7 November 2008 in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The topics analysed during the Conference concerned the security of e-Government applications and the crucial issue of communicating public digital data securely. The Conference speakers highlighted different aspects of this issue and provided solutions and good practice examples. The Conference was also addressed by representatives of the Hellenic Ministry of the Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization, and of the Special Secretariat for Digital Planning, who presented the progress of e-Government services in Greece. Executives and officials from SEE countries also presented e-Government progress status and new initiatives in the region. The Conference was also honoured by the presence of Mr. Nikolaos Tahiaos, the Assistant Secretary General for International Economic Relations and Development Cooperation of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The conference attracted more than 140 participants from South-Eastern & Western European Countries and of course Greece. It was not only supported by the Hellenic Aid Program, but also by the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE), the Hellenic Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Special Secretariat of Digital Planning (Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance), Microsoft Hellas, the Global Trust Centre of Sweden, the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece, the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Federation of Hellenic IT and Communications Enterprises and the Hellenic Informatics Union.
The event also received significant attention from the press and media, such as newspapers and magazines (Express, Xrimatistirio, Macedonia, SeeNews, Security Manager and IT Security) and television stations, such as the national television channel ERT3 and TV100.
